Explore the many adventure activities open to you here in the mountains. You’ll find something for everyone: hiking, biking boating, fishing, off-roading and so much more.

SUMMER ACTIVITIES


BIKING

You’ll find hundreds of miles off-road riding trails in the Beartooths and the Bighorns. Be prepared for mountain weather conditions - be sure you bring layering gear for a variety of conditions.

BOATING

There are many lakes, rivers and streams to explore by boat or canoe in both the Beartooths and the Bighorns. Know the area you are traveling to and be prepared to take advantage of the beautiful scenery.

FISHING

The Bighorns and the Beartooths hold outstanding fishing opportunities from quiet mountain streams to boating and float tubing on reservoirs and high mountain lakes.

FOOD & FUEL

Find out the best places to eat on or off the mountain. For the Bighorns, know where to fuel up without traveling off the mountain so you can keep having fun!

HIKING

Bring your hiking poles, sturdy shoes and plenty of high-energy foods, because once you get started walking the mountain trails, you aren’t going to want to stop.

HORSES

The Bighorns and the Beartooths have miles and miles of great trails for a weekend horse camping trip. So load up your trailer, pack your sleeping bag, and explore the mountains from the saddle!  

OFF-ROADING

A ride along the mountain trail systems provides the experience of many wonderful vistas. Heavily forested trails suddenly give way to large, scenic meadows with breathtaking views of the mountain tops and valleys. 

ROCK CLIMBING

Many adventures await the climber who sets out for a day or two in the Beartooth or Bighorn Mountains. Climbers will find granite and crystalline in the Beartooth and a mix of granite, sandstone and limestone in the Bighorns.

SCENIC

You’ll find an incredible array of vistas and wildlife in the Beartooths and the Bighorns. Enjoying taking photos of the animals, but do be sure to keep a safe distance.
